…zur Berührung [on touching… // touching on…] is a Klangobjekt [sound object] exploring the auditory dimensions of touching and how the human body reverberates to the world.
Hearing and touching are phenomena of sensous perception and focal point of this installation. In a working journal and the related thesis aspects of philosophical approaches to perception are discussed. With Bernhard Waldenfels it is assumed that human perception always is synaesthetic, i.e. that it is characterized by an interplay of our senses. Thus we cannot escape from hearing, for example. We are always in resonance to the world around us. Suchlike we are already touched when touching the wooden corpus. The related sounds are being amplified and unfold with audio filters. Sound and sound source do not play the main role in that moment. It is rather the timbre (Jean-Luc Nancy) – understood as sound matter, as the vibe itself touching us while we are hearing.
In May 2012 I started off with a piece of wood examining it with motorized tools and microphones in the wood workshop of my father.
Parallel to that I dived into Bernhard Waldenfels's phenomenological approaches on touching and hearing as well as into Jean-Luc Nancy's writings on Resonance. The time until end of July thus was characterized by philosophical readings as well as by experimenting with further materials and developing the technological infrastructure for the installation with the great support of sound artist Markus Wutzlhofer and electronic engineer Stefan Trampert.
In September the installation premiered at Altes Finanzamt Neukölln with an opening performance. In October it has been awarded a prize for best Bachelor thesis in the programme of European Media Studies at the University of Potsdam and the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam and excited the audience of the final year presentation „Applaus“. As part of the [Education Networking Day of Club Transmediale](http://www.ctm-festival.de/news/on-saturday-education-networking-day/ „http://www.ctm-festival.de/news/on-saturday-education-networking-day/“) I was invited to present my philo-artistic research in February 2013 at Kunstraum Bethanien.
In 2014 an article on my B.A. thesis will be published in [„Kraft der Alterität“. ](http://www.transcript-verlag.de/ts2355/ts2355.php „http://www.transcript-verlag.de/ts2355/ts2355.php“), a volume on ethical and aesthetical dimensions of performativity and alterity edited by Dieter Mersch, Lisa Stertz and Jörg Sternagel.
