The Sound of Shadow!

Any animal figures you shadow with hands, you hear it.

The Shadow Game

Idea

This idea is based on a further development of the shadow game. Once I realized the shadow game can give so many possibilities, creations, and fun, I have come to this decision to make the game better. Therefore, with this new concept (product), this game no longer contains the physical practice and visual excitement, but moreover, with acoustic surprises.

How to Play?

It’s simply like all kinds of shadow games. When wearing this pairs of gloves, one can try to shadow different animal figures on walls by folding his hands. Once when a shadow of an animal figure can be seen clearly, the sound of this animal figure will be heard. The aim of this game is to create more excitement and the sounds effects can be the best feedback for players.

Technology

The idea is fulfilled by the Keyboard Hack technique. A wireless keyboard was first taken apart and rebuilt in a suitable style. Then one side of each cables were brazed separately on the Input and Output parts of the conductor board, while another side of them were wrapped by small pieces of aluminum papers and attached on the particular parts of a pair of gloves. Thus, the circuit can only happen when both hands are “correctly” folded together. A programming language that designd to combine different hotkeys with various animal shouts was then written by the Interface Designer Tobias Friese on Flash. So when everything is settled, the game can begin.

The first product!

Improvement

As a Product Designer, I changed my product with a better solution one week after the first presentation. The conductor board is put in a leather pocket which can be worn in front of chest. The cables were packed together and stored well in plastic tubes. The Aluminum papers were replaced by pieces and filament of real silver and sewn on the gloves.
