Interaction design internship at Raureif
We are looking for highly motivated and inspiring students to join our team for a five-month summer internship, starting in March 2012.
Raureif is a Berlin-based design consultancy. We have worked on consumer and professional software projects, for mobile and on the desktop. Clients include the OECD, National Geographic, Deutsche Telekom, Bayerischer Rundfunk, Faro Europe, G&H Bankensoftware, Indamed Medical Office and more.
In addition to our consulting business, we also create and publish software: MoneyMoney, the Mac OS X home banking software for the rest of us, the Virtual Water App for iOS, the open source software TypeShow and, in collaboration with FHP, the EcoChallenge iPhone app.
Interns will assist senior designers and freelance experts in client and internal projects. A wide variety of activities is waiting: ranging from UI design for software and web, user research and testing, to business plan development and validation.
All candidates should include an extensive CV and a link to their portfolio or provide work samples. Please indicate your role and contribution for each project submitted.
All internships are paid properly. As we do not believe in slavery, we try to keep late nights to an absolute minimum and promote a healthy work-life-balance. We do not consider applicants who want to work for free.

In Edith Karlson's sculptural practice, animals and men are the main protagonists. Her often large-scale sculptural pieces produced by means of mixed techniques show a variety of characters, from colorful dogs to naked humans. However, these never stand alone as mere representations, but are composed into intricate installations. Like in the old mythologies, the creatures in Karlson's works are tied into
tangled interaction, as if telling their own modern day folklore and legends. The work on show at SlaM, Drama is in your head (2011), is the latest of Karlson's productions, originally shown at the Stalker festival in Tallinn past summer. Compared to her previous works, the piece strikes as more stripped down and rough, exposed industrial materials creating a lab-like atmosphere. While the black dog located on the periphery of the installation resembles the large-scale animals in Karlson's previous works, the centerpiece of the work represents human body in a completely different way. Here, man is dismantled: wooden planks support huge brains from which streams of blood are continuously flowing into various-sized industrial buckets. Reducing the subjective evaluation of human intellect and emotions to mere biology, Drama is in your head reminds us that objectivity is often perceived in purely rational scientific terms. It also warns of the fact that the flesh and blood that constitute humans—when separated from the unexplained and the unreasonable—amount to little more than a laboratory.
